We live in the South Burnett Area of Queensland and Virginia makes the rope products to Ian's designs. We use Tuff Tack Equestrian rope which is a double braid polyester rope ( like yachting rope) that has been designed to with stand life on the land.
Our lead ropes are eyespliced and the throat stitched and the tail is weighted as it is back spliced and finished with a leather popper ( the ends are not just finished with a melt from a heat gun)
Ian likes at least a 14 mm rope for leads and he prefers 16 mm as it has a good weight and grip to it. Virginia recommends 8ft for leading and tying up - it gives enough length that you can use the tail to hurry a horse along while leading. For training a horse Ian likes a 16 ft lunge line in 16mm.
